Surgical 技术 Program

The Surgical 技术 Associate of Applied Science degree is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary for careers working in an operating room. The surgical technologist prepares the surgical environment and functions as a team member during surgical procedures. After many hours of simulated experiences in a well-equipped lab, students will obtain clinical experience at Mayo Clinic Hospitals in Rochester, 明尼苏达州, and other hospitals in southeastern 明尼苏达州.

As part of the requirements to graduate from the Surgical 技术 program, students must take the National Board of Surgical 技术 and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) Certifying Examination for Surgical Technologists.

坦白说, I cannot say enough positive things about the skills/role of the surgical technologist. Their skills in organization, flexibility, anticipation, etc. – often while being a first assistant to the surgeon – is invaluable! As I made my way through my medical school and residency rotations, 这些技能, and knowledge of the instruments, made my surgical rotations MUCH easier as I was competent in the OR basics “dos and don’ts”.  And because of 这些技能 I recently sought to employ a “surg tech” to help me in the OR and clinic. And now that I have my own practice, I am teaching my own staff about sterile technique and sterile processing.
